Social networking platform such as Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter and LinkedIn are uniquely different from each other but all allow their
users to create their own content. From my observations, Facebook certainly
seems to be the social networking platform meant for content you post for your
friends and family to see such as photos and life updates. From what I have
seen, most people only post photos or share funny relatable videos on their
timeline. It is a great way to say in contact with people in your life and
their accomplishments by seeing what they post. Instagram seems to consist of
more thought out content. Individuals seem to be engrossed in having the
perfect pictures to display themselves. I personally know people who spend
hours editing their photos to have the most flattering filters and a perfect
caption. The process of taking an Instagram photo is also an entire process
being that individuals need to find the perfect location with prime lighting
while striking the best pose.
Twitter seems to be the most instant of the four social
networking sites. This site has a limit of 140-280 characters per tweet which
keeps the content short and sweet. In my opinion, individuals are the most
vocal on Twitter about their immediate thoughts on content that they discover
being that they can easily link the source and state their opinions. LinkedIn
seems to be the most professional of the social networking platforms that I
have discussed. This site is used for individuals to present themselves as best
as they can to find possible jobs and employers. It gives people the
opportunity to connect with the right people to get where they want in their
career.
