An Ethical Perspective on New Media

For my term paper, I will be researching some of the ethical dilemmas that arise with the new age of technology. Primarily, I will be discussing the deception of identity and privacy in cyberspace. Technology provides our society with tremendous benefits but also without a doubt has its downfalls. My paper will focus on the new possibilities that technology gives us and how humans can use this in an unethical manner or to complete a wrongful act in general. I will also explore what can done to prevent these issues by analyzing previous scenarios to understand how our society adapts to this new technology to determine what is acceptable and what is unacceptable.

  1. Sasha, this is another interesting catch-22 that needs further exploration, research and debate for public awareness. What is the right balance for SM will be a good point of debate? How much does it hurt than help will be debate points what will be discussed for some time to come.

  2. The line with ethics as always was in my perspective a matter of perspective. It’s seems to correspond with social norms, cultural restrictions, religions perspectives, and region. The socials norms of an individual located in Japan vs Africa are two completely different individuals. As we seem to have a general understanding of basic human rights corresponding with the United Nations people are limited by human elements of greed, passion, death etc. So this relation between new media vs ethics is one of controversy/debate. I look forward to what insight your research presents.
